New Nissan EV Juke-sized is preparing for release

Nissan EV

The new Nissan EV will be built on a shortened platform of the Nissan Ariya model. British edition Auto Express claims that Nissan has begun development of a compact electric crossover, the external dimensions of which will be close to the gasoline model Juke. At least this possibility was not ruled out by the product manager of the European division of the concern Nicolas Bozek. He explained that it is in the B segment, to which the Juke belongs, that the brand is strongest in Europe.

Nissan unveiled the new Ariya midsize electric crossover last year, due to go on sale in the second half of this year. It is assumed that the more compact model will be built on a shortened version of the same platform. At the same time, the inside of the novelty will be more spacious than the “Juka” due to a larger wheelbase and a more compact power plant.

The publication also suggests that the new compact crossover in the base will receive front-wheel drive, and for a surcharge it will be possible to count on a rear electric motor. The simplest Ariya battery for 63 kilowatt-hours for the younger model will be top-end. In this case, the power reserve on a single charge will exceed 400 kilometers.

The main competitors of the new Nissan EV in the European market will be the crossovers of the Stellantis concern, built on the Peugeot 208 chassis. These are Opel Mokka e, Citroen e-C4 and Peugeot e-2008 itself. Their batteries, however, hold a maximum of 50 kilowatt-hours, and the drive can only be front-wheel drive.
